Congregation Kol HaNeshama invites the entire community to Shabbat services on Friday, March 9 at 6 pm.
Our special guest will be Fradle Freidenreich, author of an acclaimed history of Yiddish education in North America. Anyone who ever attended a Yiddish school or camp during that period will be especially interested in this presentation, which will comprise a slide show and lecture, followed by a sing-a-long of favorite Yiddish songs with Bob Salzman on the keyboard (words and transliterations will be provided).
Shabbat dinner will be served at 7:15, followed by the presentation at 8pm.
Copies of the book, Passionate Pioneers:The Story of Yiddish Secular Education in North America, 1910-1960 will be available. It is a great story with many wonderful pictures. Order a copy in advance and make your dinner reservation by calling 941-918-1777 or emailing John Niles at jkniles@yahoo.com.
The cost for dinner is $10 per adult, $5 for teens and students. No charge for under 13’s.
The cost of the book in advance is $30.
